Background Information

An ecosystem is a group of organisms interacting with their environment. Colorado has about six ecosystems like forests, mountains, alpine tundra, and grass land. The main ecosystems in Colorado is forests, mountains, and plains. The most common plants and animals are bunnies, weeds, grass, deer, mountains goats, horses, and pine trees.

Invasive species are a plant or animal that is new to an ecosystem and is a threat. The thing an invasive species needs to survive is to adapt to with its new ecosystem, and blend in with Its surrounding also survive from predators, get its daily needs and reproduce. An invasive species can also affect the ecosystem its in by killing off or lowering the population of a native species. The native species have to adapt and that can create an endless loop. An example is the EAB, a beetle the kills ash trees, and it affects animals that live off the ash trees.

The food chain is about what all of the animals eat. The animals are also in aquatic, land, and air. There’s the food web, chain, and pyramid show where all of the animals are and what they might eat. There are four parts to the pyramid, the bottoms it’s the producers their plants, they get energy form the sun. seconded, it’s the primary consumers who only eat plants. Third, is the secondary consumers, eat animas and plants. Fourth it’s the tertiary consumers they eat plants and animals. Energy starts at the bottom of the pyramid and flows to the top. an example is when all of the energy from the bottom gets more energy from the sun flows down to up.

The Emerald Ash Border is about when an invades species in America.  The Emerald Ash borders originated from Eastern Asia to all over the world. Also, the EAB is a part of the food chain. The can live 1-2 years old. EAB usually are in fire wood. They are smaller then a penny so their hard to see.

Impact of the Emerald Ash Borer

The food change changes would affect our food chain in CO. The bugs would will cause damage because they when they come into our trees and when they do its causes lines and larva goes into the inside its causes tree branches and leaves and tree animals like squirrels, bats, koalas, frogs, monkeys, and snakes.

Environment Changes

If the Emerald Ash Borer comes to our ecosystem ash trees will die, and the plants and animals living off the tree will slowly die, and the plants and animals living off the tree might slowly die off. The animals that rely on those animals might also die slowly and it can really impact our ecosystem in Colorado.
